17 Jun No sooner said than done! Laps for Life 93 meets its challenge in the fight against leukemia

The first charity challenge for Allianz and Marc Márquez has been closed with great success, and would not have been possible without the collaboration on social media. The objective of this first challenge was to involve society in raising awareness of the fight against leukemia, a disease survived by less than half of adult patients and one in four children. Thus, the social networks were used to cultivate participation to spread the word about the need to invest in research into leukemia and other blood diseases.

For every tweet or post on Facebook promoting the cause and using the hashtag #lapsforlife93, Allianz Insurance donated 1 euro to the José Carreras Foundation against leukemia. The challenge was to reach 10,000 tweets to complete the lap round the Laps for Life 93 virtual racetrack.

The social response was overwhelming and the challenge was met and exceeded. In view of this, a few days ago the heads of Allianz presented to the President of the Foundation, tenor José Carreras, the donation of 10,000 euros that was achieved through social participation. It also made a gift to the Foundation of a shirt signed by Marc in appreciation for the work they do every day to fight leukemia.

In addition, in this campaign, direct donations were also made to the José Carreras Foundation through charity SMS’s. In this way, all those wanting to go above and beyond sent a charity SMS to 28027 with the word IMPARABLES [or unstoppable]. The total cost of the donation, 1.20 euros, was allocated directly to the Foundation. Among all those who sent their charity SMS’s, Allianz raffled off 3 pairs of tickets to the racing at Montmeló. Agustín from Torrevieja, Gabriel from Girona and Tomás from Majadahonda were the lucky ones who enjoyed the training and racing at Montmeló.
